Dancey tiem nao! The question is not "Why are they dancing?", nor even is it "Why are they dancing on the back of a quiz about Linear Expansion and Specific Heat?" The question is "Why are they dancing in their old clothes?" Answer: Because it is a doodle, and I didn't feel like making up even more elaborate formal wear for them. _{(I read this one fic where Cain's is this crazy affair of white and silver that he can't even figure out how to put on.
